Misconception No.1:

Holistic interior design is just another fancy buzz word to describe interior design

Holistic Interior Design is Just a “Buzz” Word for Interior Design

In 2022, there is no “buzz” or “hype” in putting the physical and mental wellbeing of you and your family above all else. In the last 2 years, our lives have changed beyond measure. If we have learnt anything during this time, it is that our health and wellbeing comes first. This starts not just within ourselves and our bodies, but within our immediate environments too, i.e. within our homes. Where in the past, we might have compromised on these aspects, now, there is no compromise. Whether you choose to incorporate holistic interior design principles within your home yourself, or hire a professional holistic interior designer, holistic interior design is here to stay, and it IS the future.

Misconception No.2:

Holistic interior design is just another new-age way of filling homes with Buddha effigies and crystals

Holistic Interior Design is About Filling Homes with Buddha Effigies and Crystals

Then it would surprise you to know that, I only have one large crystal on display, and not a single Buddha effigy in my home!

At its heart, holistic interior design is about fulfilling your soul’s deepest desires to live your best life possible by creating an environment that facilities you to do this. It is not about you conforming to other peoples ideas, perceptions and preferences of what holistic interior design is, and how your home should look and feel as a result of it being holistically designed. Therefore, if Buddha effigies and crystals do not resonate with you, there is no reason why, they should be in your home.

As a holistic interior designer, I aim to restore balance and harmony within your home, and to create the easiest and most effortless environment possible, in which your soul’s wants and desires feel supported, nurtured and satisfied, so that you may live your best life. How this is achieved, will differ from person to person, and from home to home, as the holistic interior process is uniquely tailored to your needs. From colour psychology, to space planning and optimising flow, to choosing organic natural materials and plants, to optimising the use of natural light, the combinations are endless and therefore, are not limited to Buddhas and crystals!

Misconception No.3:

Holistic interior design is just Feng Shui in disguise!

Holistic Interior Design is Just Another Name for Feng Shui

Holistic interior design is not a new, or fancier name for Feng Shui, but Feng Shui, just like Biophilic design, does fall within the principles of holistic interior design. What this means, is that the ancient Chinese traditions and practices of Feng Shui can form part of, and be incorporated into, a holistic interior design scheme, but a holistic interior deign scheme is not limited to, and does not have to, include Feng Shui.
